Berwick Girls put up a fight against Pingree School to tie 1-1

It was a hard fought game, resulting in a 1-1 tie, but a satisfying one that will perhaps go down in JV Blue history as the first overtime game against rival, Pingree School. Every single member of the team worked hard, ran hard, and played hard. The first half of the game was a back and forth match, with most of the play taking place in Berwick territory. The midfield, defensive line, and goalie, Rose Elkins, put up a fight, keeping the ball out of their net for the entire 35 minute half.

They came back determined to keep the ball out of their end, and did a great job of it, despite the goal scored by Pingree a few minutes into the second half. After allowing the goal, the Berwick girls stayed focused, working together to answer back. Freshman forward Katy Davis and sophomore forward, Jenny Scharff did just that, with an assist by Katy to Jenny who made a beautiful shot and goal to the top left corner of Pingree's net. The girls werre ecstatic to tie up the game, putting on an even more determined game face for the rest of the match. Left wing, Paige Galvin, played an outstanding game, never backing down and sprinting to every ball. The entire team kept up their momentum for the remainder of the game, but were unable to put another one in the net.

The game went into overtime with two 10-minute halves. Everyone played their hardest, with some scary moments in front of the Berwick goal. The defense did not allow a goal, however, keeping Pingree at bay. Despite several breakaways and shots on net by Berwick, the girls were unable put one in, ending the game in a 1-1 tie.

It was a proud moment for the entire team as well as their coaches, and an exciting game to watch. Congratulations on an outstanding game girls!
