BA loses in NEPSAC Semi-Final

Berwick Academy 7 v. Gould Academy 12

After defeating Chase Collegiate in the semi-finals of the New England Small School Lacrosse Championship on Wednesday, the Bulldogs of Berwick Academy made the long bus ride up to Bethel Maine in order to battle Gould Academy.

Riding a big win on Wednesday and prepared for the game, Berwick Academy jumped out to a quick two goal lead. However, Gould was able to weather the early Berwick advance, and the Huskies slowly started chipping away at the Bulldog’s lead. Before the first half came to a close, Gould took advantage of a man-up opportunity, and as a result, the Huskies took a 3-2 lead; despite a never say die attitude, unrelenting hard work, and a great physical effort, the Berwick Academy Bulldogs were unable to catch up with the Huskies.

The semi-final game against Gould was the last for seven Berwick Academy seniors: Cam Cain, Ethan Fishbaugh, Greg Galvin, Tom Hay, Peter Jenkinson, Kyle Lanzit, Phil Rummuno, and captain Aaron Harris. The coaching staff has been inspired and impressed by this group of seniors; throughout the season they have been exemplary role models for the younger players, continued the strong tradition of lacrosee at BA, and represented Berwick Academy with integrity and class. There is no doubt that the team will miss them next year, but that they will also make an immediate and positive impact on their college campuses.

Lastly, the Berwick Academy coaching staff would like to thank our fans and our team’s parents—so much of the success we experienced this season would not have been possible without your steadfast and loyal support.
