Toohey does it again in OT

Patrick Connolly
The Bulldogs nearly let one slip away Friday afternoon, but the game was rescued once

again 3 minutes into over-time by the potent power play combination of Cam Toohey,

Lucas Michaud, Alex Hopkins, and Chris Michaud (who stepped in for Liam Darcy). The

afternoon got going on a nice rush by Toohey that saw him beating his defenseman

down the right wing before tucking it past the goalie. Assists going to Shane Napolitano

and Lucas Michaud. Kent’s Hill spoiled the lead late in the period, and then it was the

visitors from northern Maine who built a lead of their own just 2 minutes into the second

period. The power play unit answered back with Lucas Michaud hammering home a

rebound on assists from Darcy and Hopkins. Kent’s Hill re-established their lead with

just 5 minutes left in the period, and it looked like the Huskies might be sledding home

with a satisfying victory. However, with Kent’s Hill playing a man down and Berwick

demonstrating some good puck control in the offensive end, it was Lucas Michaud who

slipped into the bottom of the circle and received a pass from Chris Michaud for a juicy

one timer. With a back swing that would rival some of the PGA’s best, Lucas teed one

off, rifling it over the goalie’s shoulder and ricocheting it off the bottom of the cross bar

to knot things up at three. With the game proving to be a stalemate in the final frame,

OT seemed to be the natural outcome. In many ways, however, this week has seen

fortune sprinkle upon the Bulldogs, and on this day it arrived in the form of a power

play opportunity with just under two minutes to play in the extra period. Recognizing the

gift in front of them, the confident man-up group rolled onto the ice for their final shift

of the game ready to put matters to rest. It wasn’t long before the unrelated Michauds

combined to find an open Cam Toohey in the low slot, who got just enough carbon-fiber

on the puck to move it past the goalie and give BA a hard-earned 4-3 victory. The team

quickly turns things around and heads over to Tilton for 5 pm face-off with the Rams.
