The Bulldogs traveled to LCA for their last game of the regular season. LCA came out strong with dangerous and attractive attacking play. Sam Montagno (Exeter, NH) came up with some key saves to keep the game scoreless until the 17th minute when an LCA cross from the left flank was headed into the back of the net. It was an amazing goal that stunned the Berwick defense, but Berwick never gave up. About 7 minutes later Siobhan McDermott (North Andover, MA) broke through on the LCA defense on the left side and almost got the equalizer. In the 33rd minute Kat Reid (Dover, NH) broke through on the right side and was fouled. Caroline Hernon (Hampton, NH) played Brooke Downey (Eliot, ME) on the set piece and Downey hit a left footed shot to the top corner for the equalizer and her 8th goal of the season. Unfortunately LCA got the lead back just before the half. Down 2-1 at the half, Berwick came out determined, and just two minutes into the second half got the equalizer. Lizzy Gross (Scarborough, ME) hit a great corner that fell to Downey who hit a low hard shot that was saved by the LCA keeper. Siobhan McDermott was there to put in the rebound but her shot hit the post, but she got her own rebound as well and tied the game 2-2. Again LCA struck back with a goal in the 44th minute off a corner and shot off the crossbar and in. Berwick couldn't equalize a third time and LCA got the insurance goal in the 77th minute to win the game 4-2. Sam Montagno (Exeter, NH) had 9 saves on the day. LCA held an 11-6 shot advantage and 7-3 advantage on corners. The Bulldogs finish the regular season 10-6-2.
