Bulldogs Win Season Opener Against Holderness

Berwick traveled to Holderness School Friday night as each team opened their season. The Bulls had a large crowd on hand to watch the evening’s action. The first period had opportunities for both teams to get on the board, but Bella Pomarico (2023) remained steady in the net for the Bulldogs turning away shots in traffic. Berwick opened the second period with steady defensive play and some swift breakouts. At the 7:50 mark, Julia Cabral (2023) connected with Alex Kingsland (2022) in the high slot who released a quick wrister, beating the Holderness goalie. Play continued to intensify during the period with both teams finding themselves on equal ends of power-plays and penalty-kills. Cabral added to the Berwick tally after a quick up-ice breakout pass from Ella Martin (2024) out of the neutral zone, carrying beating Holderness defenders and hitting the top corner. Both teams continued to compete hard for the remainder of the contest with the Bulldogs holding on for the win with great backstopping from net-minder Pomarico with 28 saves. All members of the Berwick team should be commended for a full team effort with everyone contributing to this contest. Holderness is a hard working, competitive team and we wish them luck for the remainder of the season. Berwick opens at home Wednesday, December 8th against Worcester Academy.
