Berwick Loses Close Contest to Phillips Exeter

Coming off of an extended break from competition across prep hockey, Berwick traveled to Phillips Exeter (PEA) for a Monday night contest. Berwick struck first on a goal from Julia Cabral (assisted by Tessa Fendelet). The Bulldogs played tight in the neutral zone throughout the 1st period creating opportunities and minimizing the PEA attack.  PEA was able to tie it up in the 2nd period scoring on their power-play and eventually went ahead to close out the 2nd. The Bulldogs found themselves on the penalty-kill throughout the 3rd. Despite some great chances, Berwick just wasn't able to find the back of the net. The Berwick defense, anchored by Bella Pomarico in net, played tough throughout. Pomarico came up with big saves throughout the game keeping Berwick in the contest and turning away the PEA attack and stopping 25 of 27 shots. A solid team effort, the Bulldogs look to focus on getting the better of the score in these close contests as they prepare to defend their title in the Maine Prep Cup this weekend at North Yarmouth Academy.
