Bulldogs earn 10th win

The Bulldogs played their first Lakes Region Class C opponent on Wed, 10/12, when they travelled to Holderness School and won 2-0, improving to 10-0-1 on the year. The Bulldogs had a 9-2 shot advantage and a 3-2 corner kick advantage.

Twenty minutes into the game, Allie Moore (North Berwick, ME) made a great save when the Holderness offense shot from inside the 18.

Early in the game, the Bulldogs had a few good opportunities to score on crosses from Juliette Lohnes (Berwick, ME), Ginger Friedman (North Hampton, NH) and Chili Dowd (Amesbury, MA). In the 30th minute, Dowd made another beautiful cross but no one could get on the end of it after she broke into the 18.

A minute later, the Bulldogs had yet another close chance after a strong passing sequence from Tessa Keenan (Exeter, NH) to Ginger Friedman to Chili Dowd and Dowd crossed to Sevilla Coffin (Newburyport, MA) who almost connected with the ball in front of the goal.

The second half of the game proved to be a more exciting one for Berwick as they scored both goals.

In the 63rd minute, Jessica Wojdak (West Newbury, MA) played the ball to Leila Beakes (Rollinsford, NH) who played the ball to Sevilla Coffin wide on the left side. Coffin beat her defender, dribbled down the end line, and then drove the ball across the 6-yard box and Blake Metcalf (Scarborough, ME) put it in the back of the net.

With ten minutes left on the clock, Chili Dowd passed to Grace Libby (Standish, ME) whose first shot bounced off the Holderness goalie and then Libby shot and scored a goal off the bounce.

The Bulldogs will play on their home turf against Newton Country Day on Saturday, 10/15. Go Bulldogs!
