Bulldogs Earn 8th Shutout of the season

Travis Derr
The Bulldogs traveled to LCA for a make up of a previously rained out contest and came home with a 2-0 win.  The Bulldogs were determined to come out strong against the defending NEPSAC Class D champions and knew they would need to shut down LCA's Ani Greene '26, the NEPSAC Class D player of the year from 2024.

Emma Rich '27 (Dover, NH) with the help of Leila Beakes '26 (Rollinsford, NH) and the other defenders were up to the task and kept Ani and the Lions scoreless for the full 80 minutes to earn the team's 8th shutout of the season.  Alexa Garcia '26 (Dover, NH) came away with three saves, including a big time save in the first 5 minutes of the game to keep the game scoreless.  Phoebe Yaris '29 (Raymond, NH) set up Carly Shumway '29 (Wells, ME) for what would be the game winning goal with a shot just over the LCA keeper and under the crossbar for the 1-0 lead.  Shumway almost added a second goal 8 minutes later but the shot hit the crossbar.  Sophia DeSimone '28 (Dover, NH) ripped a shot off the post in the first half, one of 10 shots on goal for the Bulldogs in the first half, but unfortunately they went into the halftime break with only a 1-0 advantage.

Despite a strong second half and a number of shots the Bulldogs struggled to find the back of the net, but remained solid defensively.  The Bulldogs battled and had a number of shots, corner kicks, and a missed penalty but just could not get a second goal.  Finally with 10 minutes remaining in the match, DeSimone hit a beautiful cross to Yaris who got the Bulldogs the insurance goal with a great volley into the back of the net to secure the win for the Bulldogs who are now 8-0-1 with 8 shutouts on the season.  The Bulldogs will host Holderness on Wednesday 10/8 for a non-league NEPSAC Class C matchup.

Go Bulldogs!
