Bulldogs Suffer Third Draw of the Season

The Bulldogs traveled to Montrose and came home with their third tie of the season and fall to 8-1-3 on the season.
 
The Bulldogs got off to a slow start and struggled to manage the Montrose midfield and attack thankfully in the 18th minute the Bulldogs got on the board when Lily Balfour (Exeter, NH) played a great diagonal ball to Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) who got in on a one v one with the keeper and tucked it in for the 1-0 lead.  The Bulldogs almost increased their lead in the 22nd when Chili Dowd (Amesbury, MA) set up Lily Pleau (Hampton Falls, NH) who hit the crossbar.  In the 25th Montrose got the equalizer off a low shot to the back post from the right side that beat Cam Hamilton (South Berwick, ME).  The Bulldogs tried to get back on the board, but couldn’t capitalize and went into the halftime break tied 1-1.
 
The Bulldogs came out stronger in the second half creating some quality chances.  It wasn’t until the 60th minute that the Bulldogs got on the board, when Sophia Whitney played a great ball to Grace Libby (Standish, ME) who crossed it to Phoebe Clark (Hampton, NH) who flicked it on to Pleau whose one touch shot went to the top corner for the 2-1 advantage.  The Bulldogs had numerous other chances to increase the lead, but couldn’t capitalize.  A controversial unintentional handball in the box by Montrose was not called for the Bulldogs, but the In the 78th minute an unintentional handball for the Bulldogs gave Montrose a penalty kick which beat Louise Roper (Kennebunk, ME) and gave Montrose their second goal.  Shortly thereafter the final whistle blew and the game finished as a 2-2 tie
 
Cam Hamilton and Louise Roper combined for 3 saves in net for the Bulldogs.  The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Wednesday on the road at Proctor Academy.
