Autumn Richards Waani '12

Autumn Richards Waani, an alum from the Class of 2012, credits experiences in the Upper School at Berwick, such as watching Food, Inc. with the start of her passion for eco-friendly food. This led to her success as a vegan pastry chef and now as the founder of Backyard Fern, a store focusing on handcrafted sustainable goods. Her store is a collection of sustainable, non-toxic, 100% vegan, handmade, plastic free products from local artisans. Autumn shares the story behind each product, with the hopes of increasing transparency and educating consumers about where their money is going. Autumn connected with current student Julia Michaud to provide advice about her Innovation Pursuit on vegan cooking, and she's passionate about sharing her sustainability mission with others!

Berwick Academy

Berwick Academy, situated on an 80-acre campus just over one hour north of Boston, serves 550 students, Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 and Post-Graduates. Berwick students are from Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and several countries.
