A Zesty Tie

In a very evenly contested game on a chilly day to mark the beginning of November, Berwick and Kent's Hill played to an exciting 1-1 draw. Moving from the predictability of the Turf to the dips and dampness of the Field 4, the game was allowed to take on its competitive flavor. On a day reserved to pay tribute to our seniors, everyone emptied their tanks, contributing to a very watchable, always on the knife's edge, match. After Open Spinney went just wide on a blast from 20 yards away, GK Owen Kenney was forced into a pair of excellent saves to keep the game level. Drew Cabral soon opened the scoring on a pacey run finished by a left footed shot to beat a sprawling goalie. Moments before half-time, however, the visitors were awarded a free kick, which banged off of the wall before an unmarked Huskie got a free look at the net, knotting the game at one. The second half offered much the same action as the first, but the hosts pushed forward time and again, earning a collection of free kicks and a good number of corners. Sadly, it wasn't to be, yet that doesn't take from what was a competitive afternoon for both sides that really went after it.
