Berwick Hits a Bump on the Road

After an auspicious beginning, where a wide open Prem Osborne found the ball on his foot before confidently depositing it into an unguarded goal,  Berwick struggled with the pace and movement of the hosts, who capped off their Senior Day with a 3-1 win. Berwick's lead was erased midway through the first half when Concord was awarded a dubious penalty kick, but that's the price you pay when you struggle to leave your end of the field. Moments before half time, Berwick conceded a corner kick which they failed to defend properly, allowing Concord to take a lead into the break. The visitors returned to the field with a bit more resolve, and threatened the net several times, unable to convert, however. And as is often the case when trying to chase the game, you either catch up or get caught trying to.  The latter proved true on this occasion as Concord completed a neatly worked passing combination that put their forward in alone on goal. 3-1. Remarkably, Berwick has an opportunity to reverse today's unfortunate result with another trip to Concord on Friday afternoon for the first round of the EIL Tournament.
