Summer@Berwick is designed to spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and make every day feel like an adventure particularly in three areas: Enrichment programs, a refreshed and robust Day Camp, and sports programs for children of all ages.

Camp Schedule
All camps run from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Families can purchase extended day care by the week or for a daily drop in fee.

Lunch Included
Daily hot lunch is included in your registration, served in our dining hall by Berwick's food service vendor, FLIK Dining. Regular and vegetarian entrees are offered each day, and menus are designed to provide healthy, nutritious options. -
Transportation
Transportation via Berwick buses to and from campus will be available throughout the summer.

Day Camp
Summer@Berwick’s weekly Day Camp is an authentic summer camp experience which includes the use of Berwick’s Library, Yoga Studio, Fabrication Studio, expansive Athletic Center, over 80 acres of outdoor space, and more! Sign up for anywhere between one and nine weeks of Summer@Berwick Day Camp and let us worry about scheduling a robust summer experience for your camper!
This summer, we are filling Day Camp in with even more impactful experiences. Berwick’s own faculty and staff will be leading programming throughout the summer. Check out our weekly themes and sign up to have access to all that Berwick has to offer within this fun and enriching summer experience!
Day Camp is offered for Pre-K (age 4) through Grade 8 and campers will be grouped by age each week. For campers in rising Grades 7-8, we will have a built-in Junior Counselor In Training (CIT) program in our Day Camp. All the fun of camp itself, with guided moments for your child to develop their passions by leading younger children.
Here is what a typical day at Day Camp might look like:
Week 1 - STEAM Adventures
Day Camp is offered for Pre-K (age 4) through Grade 8 and campers will be grouped by age each week. For campers in rising Grades 7-8, we will have a built-in Junior Counselor In Training (CIT) program in our Day Camp. Week 1 - June 15-18 | STEAM Adventures
Week 1 of Day Camp is STEAM week at Berwick. Come to the Hilltop for a week of exciting summer camp and dive into “Project Approach in a Week” where Lower School Faculty, Meg Kenter will lead campers through an exploration of ocean systems and tide pools. -
Week 2 - June 22-26 | Global Explorations
Join Lower School faculty, Leah Gourlie on a cultural immersion adventure this week at Day Camp. Spanish Immersion along with the adventure of summer camp is a sure way to learn something new, experience the globe, and have fun! -
Week 3 - June 29-July 2 | Wellness
It’s Wellness Week at Berwick! Lower School faculty, Shilo Fiel, will be on site working with students in our yoga studio. Programming will focus on mindfulness, wellness, and overall health and wellbeing. -
Week 4 - July 6-10 | Imagination and Creation
Get your creative juices flowing this week at Berwick. The theme this week is imagination and creation. Find new passions, explore campus inside and out, and make lifelong memories on the Hilltop. Our camp counselors are ready to play, create, and have a blast! -
Week 5 - July 13-17 | Wild Outdoors
The Wild Outdoors comes to Summer@Berwick this week with another “Project Approach in a Week” theme with Lower School faculty, Eliza Martin: Entomology! Campers will spend time each day being bug explorers, building a bug hotel, and celebrating the world through our tiniest critters.The Wild Outdoors also means even more outside play! Join Berwick faculty and staff for pickleball and ultimate frisbee this week! -
Week 6 - July 20-24 | Nature Explorers
Are you a Nature Explorer? This week at Summer@Berwick campers will explore nature, learn about sustainability, and create nature art. Meet the trees, learn how to garden, and maybe even attend a garden party! Lower School faculty, Eliza Martin will join Day Camp for a week of nature exploration and fun! -
Week 7 - July 27-31 | Cultural Immersion
Join Lower School faculty, Gabriela Saldana-Parkes on a cultural immersion adventure this week at Day Camp. Along with spanish immersion throughout the day, spend time in Berwick’s test kitchen with Chef Gary. And, as always, the added adventure of summer camp on the Hilltop is a sure way to learn something new, experience the globe, and have fun! -
Week 8 - August 3-7 | Words and Wonder
Words and Wonders week at Summer@Work will be jam packed with fun and excitement. Join our very own Ellie Summers, Lower School Academic Support Coordinator, for a week where campers explore and craft, have fun with literacy and skill building, and utilize all the Hilltop has to offer! -
Week 9 - August 10-14 | Let's Play!
Our last week of the summer is sure to be a super blast. This week’s theme, Let’s Play, is all about having fun, getting outside, and learning new things. Play ultimate frisbee with Berwick’s faculty, Ben McDermott, learn a new sport, get silly, and make memories that will last you until Summer@Berwick 2027!

Stay Cool in the Hot Shop! Beginner Metalsmithing with Sara Apsey

Unleash your creativity in this hands-on beginner metalsmithing workshop! No prior experience is needed—just bring your imagination and a sketchbook to get started. Dive into the exciting world of metalworking as we explore the fundamentals of design, soldering, sawing, and light forming. Using materials like copper, brass, and silver, you’ll craft your own wearable and functional pieces that showcase your unique style. Take your creations to the next level by adding vibrant, colorful touches with epoxy resin! Sweet Treats with Chef Gary

Indulge your sweet tooth and unleash your inner pastry chef in Sweet Treats From Breakfast to Dessert! Artist’s Books with Nicole Derr

Sign up for the first of a three part series with Artist’s Books! In Artist’s Books, students will explore a multigenre approach to book construction, incorporating poetry and creative writing. We will focus on a variety of methods to book making, including binding techniques, use of unique and found materials, and expanding the idea of “book.” Students will engage in creative writing exercises designed to align with each project. After taking Artist’s Books, sign up for next week’s session, Artist’s Journals. -

Rock Climbing and Outdoor Education with Grace Beneke
Grades 3-6 | $525Adventure awaits on the Hilltop! Rock Climbing & Outdoor Education Camp invites campers to climb, explore, and connect with the outdoors through hands-on challenges and guided play. Campers will be introduced to the basics of rock climbing in a safe, supportive environment on Berwick's own rock climbing wall, while building strength, coordination, and confidence one climb at a time.Beyond the climbing wall, campers will become outdoor explorers. Each day blends physical movement with curiosity-driven learning, helping campers develop resilience, trust, and a sense of accomplishment.
Artist’s Journal with Nicole Derr

Part two of this three part artist’s journey. Sign up for Artist’s Journals (Artist’s Books not required to sign up for week 2). Students will explore the idea of artistic journaling; each will be given a standard bound blank journal to start, and we will explore unique approaches to self expression through journaling. This class will meld 2D visual art with personal writing, and will emphasize techniques in collage, illustration, symbolism, and exploration of self reflection. Arte y Sol: A Spanish Immersion Camp with Berwick Grade 3 Teacher Gabriela Saldana Parkes
Grades 3-6 | $475
Campers will have an opportunity to be immersed in the Spanish language through art and music! Learn fun facts about some famous artists, culture and geography of different Hispanic countries. Campers will enhance their Spanish vocabulary through music, movement, art projects, storytelling, and games taught primarily in Spanish. Campers will be taught by a native Spanish speaker in a bilingual format, with approximately 75% of the program taught in Spanish.
Pokémon GO Adventure Camp with Kevin McGann
Grades 3-8 | $475What if screen time meant walking miles outdoors, building strategy skills, and making real-world friendships? Pokémon GO Adventure Camp is a five-day summer experience where kids turn their love of Pokémon into an active, social, and educational adventure. Campers explore real locations, work as teams, earn daily “gym badges,” and learn advanced gameplay skills — all while staying moving, engaged, and having a blast. This is not a sit-and-stare tech camp. It’s where gaming meets:- Outdoor exploration
- Teamwork and sportsmanship
- Strategy, math, and critical thinking
- Friendly competition and goal-setting
Each day focuses on a different Pokémon type, building skills progressively toward a final PvP tournament on Friday.Requirements for this camp:- A smartphone or tablet with Pokémon GO installed

Get ready to jump, spin, kick and create at our Dance Immersion Camp! Campers will learn various dance styles including ballet, jazz, hip hop, acro, lyrical and more during the week! Focussing on the fundamentals of dance and keeping up those dance skills over the summer! All levels are welcome! Classes will be created based on the skillsets of the students who sign up! Whether you’ve been dancing for years or are looking to start this is the camp for Kids who love to dance!
VEX Robotics with Ben McDermott

Dive into the exciting world of robotics! Students will design, build, and program their own VEX robots, then put them to the test in fun challenges and competitions. Along the way, they’ll develop teamwork, problem-solving, and engineering skills while having a blast creating something that moves.
Artist’s Lens with Nicole Derr

The final part of this three part experience, join us this week for Artist’s Lens. Using a combined focus on creative writing and photography, students will dive deeply into the questions of “Who am I?” and “What is my story?” Students will focus on a variety of personal narrative techniques including poetry, prose, and creative writing prompts, as well as photography fundamentals and techniques, exploring composition, light, space, exposure, and mood. Finally, students will combine their photography with their writing to create a digital portfolio of their own unique story. A digital camera (phone is fine!) and a computer are required for this camp. -

A Bug's Life: Entomology, Bug Collecting, and Insect Identification
Grades 3-6 | $495
This 5-day program introduces students to the fascinating world of insects through hands-on exploration and outdoor investigation. We will learn how to identify, collect, and observe different insects - focusing on their distinct body parts, metamorphoses, and behaviors. We will discuss both beneficial ones and pests (and why our relationships with them and their habitats matter!) in hopes of becoming better humans in a world of insects!
Broadway Bootcamp with Liz Calandra
Grades 4-9 | $495
Lights up, music on, and curtain up! Broadway Bootcamp invites young performers to sing, dance, and act their way through a week of theatrical fun on the Hilltop. Designed especially for budding stars, this high-energy camp introduces campers to the basics of musical theater through playful warm-ups, creative movement, vocal exploration, and imaginative acting games.

Pre-Algebra Enrichment is for Middle School students who need extra support / practice in fundamental Algebra I topics. Time will be spent on practicing skills and applying knowledge through real-world applications.
*The mathematics portion of this program is half day. The other half will be filled with classic camp fun.

Step into the world of coding and creativity! Campers will learn programming fundamentals, tackle fun challenges, and create their own projects using real coding tools. Algebra 1 Enrichment is offered to rising Grade 9 students, entering high school and looking for extra support and practice over the summer. This program will provide them with an introduction to Algebra I as well as an understanding of High School Mathematics. Concepts covered will include ratios, proportions, percents, linear and absolute value equations, and rational numbers. Join us for this Math Enrichment to prepare students for their Algebra 1 high school experience!
*The mathematics portion of this program is half day. The other half will be filled with classic camp fun. -

Dance Immersion
Grades 6-9 | $495
Looking for dance classes to keep up those skills over the summer? This is the camp for you! This camp will focus on strengthening dance technique, learning choreography and training new skills! Dance experience is not required but it is encouraged! Dancers will train in ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop and more in this fast paced and fun dance immersion camp!

Week 9 | August 10-14
Books that Cook with Berwick Grade 3 Teacher Gabriela Saldana ParkesGrades K-3 | $550Campers will work closely in small groups with our staff to create delicious recipes pulled right out of their favorite literature! For example, Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey might turn into blueberry muffins! Junior chefs and bakers will participate in each step of the cooking process: counting, measuring, mixing, and pouring. And of course, the eating! Each day we will make a new food, which ensures that campers have something to bring home every day. *Any allergies or dietary restrictions will be accommodated for any recipes, ensuring that the experience is healthy, safe, and suitable for all of our campers.
Karate Camp with Liz Calandra (Third Degree Black Belt)
Grades 3-6 | $495
Get ready to kick, punch, and focus! Karate Camp introduces young campers to the exciting world of karate in a safe, supportive, and high-energy environment on the Hilltop. Through age-appropriate instruction, games, and movement-based activities, campers will learn basic karate stances, blocks, and strikes while building confidence, coordination, and self-discipline. Each day blends structured karate practice with playful drills that emphasize listening skills, respect, teamwork, and perseverance. Campers will also enjoy balance challenges, agility games, and fun fitness activities designed especially for young learners. No prior experience is needed.
Our enrichment programming is focused on subject/content-specific courses that boost participants' understanding and live within Berwick’s own ideals of depth over breadth. Enrichment camps are exciting dives deep into camper's passions.

Our coaches are ready to train and work with campers this summer to hone their skills and build confidence in athletics. Berwick will be hosting a number of sports camps for the athletes who are looking for more specialized training and the ability to have fun while enhancing their skills.

Head Coach Maddy Jordan and Berwick Academy Girls Volleyball Team will be hosting a full day camp on the Hilltop with lunch provided. Campers will receive instruction in an array of skill drills and fundamentals as well as competitions designed to enhance game play and boost volleyball IQ. -

Get ready for a full day of hoops, hustle, and high-level instruction! Head Coach Tim Protzmann and the Berwick Academy Boys Basketball Team invite players to an action-packed basketball camp where skills meet strategy. Baseball | Youth Skills Camp | Grades 2-5
At Youth Skills Camp, campers will receive advanced training at every position on the field. Skill areas of focus will include hitting, bunting, batting stance, pitching, base-running, sliding, throwing mechanics, speed development, and fielding. Every player will have a chance to get better and play against other campers in a variety of drills with competitions that they can take home to practice year-round. -

Beginner Co-Ed Tennis Camp
Designed for beginner tennis players, Head Coach Kathy Varone and Berwick Tennis players will be offering a comprehensive tennis experience for those looking to refine the basics, and elevate their game. This camp is a half day of tennis instruction, followed by lunch (provided on campus) and an afternoon of camp activities (kick-ball, capture the flag, etc.). Grades 2-8. -
Week 5 | July 13-17
Intermediate/Advanced Co-Ed Tennis
Designed for intermediate to advanced tennis players, Head Coach Kathy Varone and Berwick Tennis players will be offering a comprehensive tennis experience for those looking to elevate their game, and fine tune their tennis skills. Boys Lacrosse | Grades 5-9
Head Coach Garrett McLean and the Berwick Boys Lacrosse players are bringing the excitement with a dynamic camp designed to challenge and inspire players of all levels. Campers will be grouped by age and experience to ensure focused instruction and meaningful skill development through high-energy drills that sharpen stick skills, footwork, and game strategy. Each day wraps up with mini-games and competitive challenges that build teamwork, confidence, and lacrosse IQ—all while having a blast. -
Week 6 | July 20-24
Girls Basketball | Grades 3-8
Varsity Assistant Coach Laurel Brown and the Berwick Girls Varsity Basketball Team invite campers to an action-packed experience that blends focused skill-building with classic camp fun. Mornings are dedicated to basketball-specific training, where campers work through engaging drills, small-sided games, and friendly competitions that strengthen fundamentals, teamwork, and basketball skill. After lunch on campus, the afternoon shifts into camp fun with games and team building activities. It’s the perfect mix of serious hoops and summer fun!
Co-Ed Soccer | Grades 2-8
Open to students in Grades 2–8, this camp is led by Coach Sarah Anderson and supported by current Varsity student-athletes who bring energy, mentorship, and high-level play to every session. Campers will build skills through engaging drills, small-sided competitions, and full-field games that strengthen fundamentals, teamwork, and soccer skill.
Baseball | Prospect Camp | Grades 8-10Players will be evaluated, instructed and coached using a college-style prospect camp workout. Camp staff will emphasize the skills needed to perform at the high school level. Aspects of camp include position specific instruction, on-field batting practice, and controlled scrimmages. The camp will emphasize the fundamentals of offense, defense, pitching, and base-running. At the end of camp, campers will receive a thorough evaluation of skills and corresponding drills for continued development. -
Week 7 | July 27-31
Field Hockey | Grades 2-8
Berwick Field Hockey will be hosting a full day camp on the Hilltop. Led by former Team USA member and Berwick faculty member Nicole Fernandes and staffed by current Varsity student-athletes, campers will dive into dynamic skill-building drills, fast-paced small-sided competitions, and engaging game play designed to strengthen individual technique, elevate team play, and build confidence on the field. With expert coaching and an inspiring environment, this camp offers players an unforgettable opportunity to grow their game while having fun with teammates and friends. -
Week 8 | August 3-8
Girls Lacrosse | Grades 4-9
Berwick Girls Lacrosse coach Dana Gray and Varsity student-athletes will be hosting a lacrosse camp with instruction focused on an array of skill drills as well as small-sided competitions and games designed to enhance team play and boost lacrosse IQ. Lacrosse instruction will be provided in the morning, with camp fun and team building activities in the afternoon.

Noah Berman
Noah Berman has taught music for 20 years, including the last 6 as Performing Arts faculty at Berwick Academy, and 8 at Camp Encore/Coda, where he headed the Jazz/Rock Department. Noah's goal is to enable students to develop the tools and understandings necessary to become independent musicians. To that end, his comprehensive teaching approach blends individual instrumental skills with ensemble playing, music theory, composition/improvisation, and ear training. As a performer, Noah has shared the stage with Sean Ono Lennon, Nels Cline and Pat Sansone of Wilco, Mauro Refosco (David Byrne), Miho Hatori (Gorillaz), and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Offstage he has worked on music-related projectors with Youtuber Rick Beato and Ethan Iverson (The Bad Plus). His playing can be heard on over 15 albums and film scores. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in 2012 from the Eastman School of Music. -
Chel Illingworth
Chel Illingworth has been teaching band and jazz band for over 30 years, working with students of all ages on the Seacoast and internationally. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, where he studied performance and music education, saxophone with George Garzone, and flute with Wendy Rolfe. As a woodwind specialist, Chel is equally comfortable teaching jazz improvisation and style as well as classical repertoire and technique. His teaching centers on building strong fundamentals, helping students understand how music works, and supporting the development of independent, creative musicians. He enjoys working with both developing students and those ready to take their musicianship to a higher level. -
Cathy O'Brien
Cathy O'Brien is a dedicated strings teacher with over 25 years of experience teaching violin, viola, cello, and string bass. She enjoys creating a positive, encouraging environment where students can explore playing a new instrument or strengthening their current skills. She focuses on technique, rhythm, different genres of music, solo and duet playing. Her goal is to build strong fundamentals and help students discover the joy of making music.

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT POLICIES
Camp RegistrationA completed registration is required in order to guarantee your camper’s enrollment in camp(s). Campers will be permitted to begin camp only after registration and full payment is completed through CampBrain.Early bird registrationWe will be offering an early bird 5% discount registration rate from the day registration opens through January 31. On February 1, camp rates will increase. No code needed. All pricing is reflected in CampBrain.Grades/AgesGrades listed for each program are the grades that your child will be entering for the 2026-27 school year. Ages listed for each program are the ages a child must be by the time the camp starts.Payments & Payment PlansEach application requires a 10% deposit. Please pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex) via CampBrain. Within CampBrain, you can either pay in full or select the payment option (2 installments).
If you would prefer to pay in monthly installments, we can create a custom plan for you as long as the full payment is received by May 15. If requesting this option, please log in to your CampBrain account and complete all registration information and forms. Once you arrive at the final payment step, at that point, reach out to Jackie Garnett, Operations Coordinator, via email at jgarnett@berwickacademy.org or phone at 207-384-6121. You will not be able to complete registration and utilize a payment plan unless it has been approved and set up in advance, including having a credit card on file with Jackie Garnett. If you are registering after May 15, we require full payment at the time of registration.Cancellations/WithdrawalsWith email notification to Operations Coordinator, Jackie Garnett (jgarnett@berwickacademy.org), families may withdraw a participant from a summer camp under the following scenarios:- Cancellation on or before April 1, 2026: You will receive a refund less 10% of the camp fee (deposit made when registering).
- Cancellation on or before May 15, 2026: You will receive a refund less 50% of the camp fee.
- Cancellation after May 15, 2026: No refund, proration, credit or tuition reduction shall be given, regardless of the reason for canceling.
Participants who commence a summer session late, depart early or miss days (whether due to violation of rules, for medical reasons or at the election of the camper or family) will not receive any refund, proration, credit or tuition reduction. This includes morning care and afternoon care.Berwick Academy reserves the right to cancel any camp due to under-enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. Participants will be given the choice of selecting another camp or receiving a full refund of paid fees.In the event that Berwick Academy summer camps are not able to operate due to state regulatory requirements from the CDC or DHHS, fees will be prorated and refunded.WaitlistsWhen first-choice camps are not available upon application, a waitlist is available for each camp. Participants are accepted from the waitlist based on open space and will be notified by telephone and/or email if and when space becomes available. We cannot guarantee any movement from the waitlist, and families enter the waitlist at their discretion. There is no fee to join the waitlist.Late RegistrationOnline registration will close at 3 p.m. on the Monday prior to the camp starting.
