Bulldogs Earn 2nd Win

The Bulldogs came out strong on their home turf on Wednesday in a match against Tilton School.  Hungry for a win the Bulldogs walked away with a 2-0 victory, holding a 16-2 shot advantage and 4-0 advantage on corners.

In the first minute of the game Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) started the Berwick action with a strong shot on goal. Then four minutes later, the Bulldogs hit the post off a set piece after Phoebe Clark (Hampton, NH) was fouled. The girls picked up the pace and really started making headway.  Lily Pleau (Hampton Falls, NH)  had a good chance off a corner kick from Phoebe Clark (Hampton, NH) in the 7th minute.  In the 8th minute the Bulldogs broke the deadlock when Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) split the Tilton defenders with a great pass for Lily Pleau (Hampton Falls, NH) who hammered it home to the bottom right corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.  The Bulldogs struck again in the 28th minute when Grace Libby (Standish, ME) received a ball from Lily Pleau (Hampton Falls, NH). Libby had her back to the goal at the top of the 18; she turned and scored to increase the Bulldog lead  The Bulldogs added a third goal in the 37th minute that was called back so went into the halftime break up 2-0.

In the second half of the match, the Bulldogs couldn’t quite get the third goal, but their best attempt took place in the 56th minute when Sophia Whitney (Hampton, NH) ran down the left flank with a cross to Reese Murphy (Stratham, NH) whose shot hit the post.  Louise Roper (Kennebunkport, ME) and Cam Hamilton (South Berwick, ME) combined for two saves and earned their third shutout of the season.
