Bulldogs Advance to EIL Finals

The Bulldogs adapted to heavy winds and rain on Friday on their home turf in an EIL semi-final game against Newton Country Day. The Bulldogs were able to keep Newton from scoring the entire game, ending with a 2-0 result and advancing to the EIL finals at Pingree school at 2pm on 11/13.

The Bulldogs had to hold off the Newton attack for most of the first half due to heavy winds. In the 12th minute, Louise Roper (Kennebunkport, ME) made a great save, catching the ball from a shot outside the 18. In the 23rd minute, Roper made another impressive save. The Bulldogs went into the half time break tied 0-0.

They came out strong in the second half, determined to get the win, this time with the wind at their backs, and dominated most of the half. In the 60th minute, Phoebe Clark (Hampton, NH) passed to Grace Libby (Standish, ME) at the top of the 18. Libby then made a lay-off pass back to Clark who shot it and scored in the bottom left corner of the net.

Only eight minutes later, Charlotte Vatcher scored the second goal for the Bulldogs off a free kick, sending a whopper from the right flank over the top of the goalie and into the back left corner of the net, insuring the Bulldog victory.

The Bulldogs are now 13-2-3 and look forward to avenging our earlier season loss to Pingree tomorrow. The Bulldogs are also a likely contender for a NEPSAC tournament berth and a quarter final playoff game on November 17.
