Bulldogs Tie Bobcats

On a brisk fall day, the Bulldogs traveled to Brewster Academy for a NEPSAC class C game.  Despite the chilling winds, the Bulldogs kept the Bobcats scoreless due to some spectacular goalkeeping by Allie Moore ’24 (North Berwick, ME) and excellent work from the Bulldog's defense.

The Bulldogs came out strong in the first ten minutes. In the eighth minute, Berwick had their first good scoring opportunity when they earned two consecutive corners. Blake Metcalf ’27 (Scarborough, ME) and Griffin Demers ’28 (Rochester, N) created some quality chances off of the corners, with one dropping in the six and creating a scrum for the ball between the two teams in front of the goal. Our back four, together with Metcalf and Eliza Small ’25 (Portsmouth, NH) fought hard to keep the ball out of the net, with Allie Moore backing them up when the ball slipped through. In the 24th minute, Moore came out to the top of the box, shutting down the attack of a Brewster striker in a 1v1. In the 27th minute, she again kept the game scoreless with two great saves and by stopping a hard-hit corner.

In the second half, the Bulldogs again battled to keep the game scoreless, with Allie Moore making a huge save in the 52nd minute after a Brewster striker rifled a shot to the top right corner. Berwick had their first scoring opportunity in the second half when Taylor Anderton ’24 (Hampton Falls, NH) came out of a kerfuffle with the ball, beating a few Brewster defenders and then slipping the ball to Demers, who missed high in the 58th. In the 60th minute, Brewster’s striker again made a play for the goal, but Moore shut her down, coming out to the top of the box and forcing a shot wide.

The Bulldogs are now 11–3-4. Allie Moore had 18th saves, helping Berwick earn their 13th shutout of the season. The Bulldogs have played 400 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal and will host Concord Academy in their last regular season game Wednesday, November 8th on the Turf.  The Concord game will have playoff implications for both the EIL and NEPSAC tournaments for both teams.
