Jennifer Ann Moore P'19 - Perspectives on Sustainable Fashion
Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting Jennifer Ann Moore, parent of Douglas Moore '19, on campus. She engaged with Upper School students, sharing insights and perspectives on sustainable fashion.
Jennifer led a workshop for Global Environmental Sustainability students, guiding them in disassembling old clothes to examine the various components and materials involved in their production. Throughout the session, Jennifer also shared her personal journey toward embracing a sustainable lifestyle.
Following the workshop, she addressed the entire Upper School, shedding light on the positive environmental impacts of upcycled fashion. She spoke about the typical journey an item of clothing takes, which often leads to a landfill, and emphasized how we can change that. Her empowering talk encouraged students to prioritize sustainability in their fashion choices.
As the co-creator of Project Upcycle, a fashion competition for emerging designers in New England, and PortSwap, an annual clothing swap in Portsmouth, both hosted at 3S Artspace, Jennifer shared her approach to building community and engagement through fashion. Overall, Jennifer encouraged students to think about a new way to incorporate sustainable fashion decisions into their daily lives.
